Two hundred years ago, Chestnut Street witnessed the birth of America. It was here in the mid-19th century that a dry goods merchant named John Elliot commissioned Joseph C. Hoxie to design a building that would house his thriving enterprise. Today, this stunning granite structure, has been transformed to house a small boutique hotel. Located in the heart of the Historic Area, the Inn is the perfect headquarters from which to explore Old Philadelphia.

The Grand Parlor, with its leather settees, fireplace, and early American art, is the ideal place to relax after a busy day or to enjoy afternoon tea. The 36 distinctive high-ceilinged guest rooms are decorated in a traditional style and furnished with queen or king sized beds, rich draperies, upholstered chairs and writing desks. All have a private bath, phone, TV, and air-conditioning.

A full, hot breakfast buffet including “make-your-own” Belgian waffles is available in the mornings. High speed internet or plug-in computer access is available for the business traveler. Two comfortable conference rooms make this an ideal accommodation for small meetings.

We enjoyed our stay and I can understand why you underplay the fact that the B&B is a Best Western as it really didn’t seem like a chain hotel at all. We were very pleased with its location, the room, the food was OK. The desk gave us a very good dinner recommendation.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff was extremely helpful and personable. The atmosphere was great and the rooms were clean and comfortable. We will certainly call on you again if we are back in Philadelphia.
